Hyundai E&C has secured contracts for the reconstruction projects of “Sinbanpo 2nd Apartment” and “Majang Serim”, surpassing 6 trillion won in urban improvement project orders for 2024.

The Sinbanpo 2nd Apartment Reconstruction Partnership (Chairman Kim Young-il) and the Majang Serim Reconstruction Partnership (Chairman Kim Sung-jin) held general meetings on December 1 and November 30, respectively, to select a construction company. They held a vote among members on Hyundai E&C’s sole bid as the preferred bidder and ultimately selected Hyundai E&C as the final builder.

The Sinbanpo 2nd Apartment Reconstruction Project involves the development of a residential complex with nine buildings ranging from four basement floors to 48 above-ground floors, comprising 2,056 residential units and amenities. The project site is located at 73 Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Hyundai E&C has partnered with world-renowned architecture firm 2PORTZAMPARC, led by Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate, to design the Sinbanpo 2nd Apartment reconstruction project. This partnership marks the first time a Pritzker Prize-winning architect has collaborated on a Korean redevelopment project, with plans to create a complex that blends in with the Han River.

The project site enjoys a prime location with approximately 700 meters of frontage along the Han River. To make the most of this advantage, Hyundai E&C raised the ground level and incorporated a piloti design, ensuring every unit has an unobstructed view of the Han River.

Additionally, the façade features premium ceramic panels rather than a conventional curtain wall design, with Klimt-inspired patterns adorning the outer walls. This artistic approach creates a design that harmonizes the complex with the Han River.

The Majang Serim Reconstruction Project involves constructing 996 apartment units across 18 buildings, with three basement levels and 29 above-ground floors, along with an auxiliary welfare facility in the area of 748 Majang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

Hyundai E&C has concentrated on enhancing the project site's appeal by showcasing the area's natural features. The building's exterior design draws inspiration from nearby Mt. Maebong, Mt. Eungbong, and the three waterways connecting Cheonggyecheon, Jungnangcheon, and the Han River. It is worth noting that the Sky Community was designed at an elevation of 80 meters to reflect the ridgeline of Mt. Eungbong, offering residents unparalleled panoramic views.

The apartment complex also includes a spacious central square, a circular walking trail, and various waterfront spaces, which collectively contribute to a serene and sophisticated living environment for residents.

With these two new contracts, Hyundai E&C has secured a total of 6.61 trillion won in orders across nine projects. These include the urban environment improvement project in Jung-2 District, Seongnam, as well as the ▲reconstruction of Hanyang Apartments in Yeouido, ▲redevelopment of Doma and Byeongdong 16th Districts in Daejeon, ▲reconstruction of Garak Samik Mansions in Songpa, ▲redevelopment of Goejeong 5th District in Busan, ▲reconstruction of Banghwa 3rd District, ▲reconstruction of Majang Serim, and ▲reconstruction of Sinbanpo 2nd Apartments.

Hyundai E&C’s representative stated, “Despite challenging conditions, we were able to secure more than 6 trillion won in urban improvement projects thanks to the trust and decision of the reconstruction partnership members.” The company added, “We will continue to be a trusted partner by upholding an even more genuine attitude in all our endeavors.”
