Hyundai E&C is accelerating the advancement of its residential technologies to improve residents’ health and everyday convenience.
On Monday, October 26th, the Korean builder announced that it had developed what it calls an “Allergy Care Solution”, a system that manages indoor air quality systematically to create healthier, more comfortable homes. Designed to reduce everyday allergens, the technology pairs a high-performance total heat exchanger with a room-by-room ventilation system that regulates airflow space by space, markedly improving the air indoors.
Total heat exchanger: A device that recovers thermal energy from exhaust air during the exchange of indoor and outdoor air, reducing heating and cooling losses caused by ventilation.
The high-performance total heat exchanger applies technologies including ▲electrostatic atomization, which electrolyzes moisture in the air to remove up to 99 percent of airborne bacteria, and ▲photoionization, which reduces harmful gases by up to 96 percent through the reaction of a specific light source with a photocatalyst. Hyundai E&C has completed performance verification of these technologies through accredited institutions such as the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL).
The room-by-room ventilation system automatically regulates airflow so users can rapidly ventilate any space they choose. By channeling fresh air into the selected room, it achieves six or more air changes per hour (ACH), well above the legally required 0.5 ACH, quickly clearing the air in spaces such as kitchens or children’s rooms.
Hyundai E&C plans to add a smart operation feature for the “Allergy Care Solution” to its residential platform apps, including “MY HILLS” and “MY THE H.” The solution will analyze indoor air quality data to set optimal operating modes, provide air quality information for each space along with device operating status, and automatically ventilate in line with indoor conditions to enhance user convenience. The company also plans to refine the product’s specifications and the criteria for where it will be applied.
“With environmental illnesses on the rise and growing attention to indoor air quality, residential technologies that systematically manage the indoor environment are becoming increasingly important, and we expect the Allergy Care Solution to offer a distinctive residential value,” said an official at the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute. “We will continue to develop technologies that support residents’ health and daily convenience and further broaden the residential philosophy and values of Neo Living.”
The HMG Construction Technology Research Institute, the joint R&D arm of Hyundai E&C and Hyundai Engineering, is leading R&D in AI- and data-driven smart residential technologies and healthcare services and continues to introduce future-ready residential solutions based on its research results.
