Hyundai E&C has showcased the excellence of K-Gardens on a European stage, becoming the first Korean construction company to win a medal at the world's most prestigious garden show.
At the ‘RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse 2025’, held for five days starting from the 16th, Hyundai E&C announced it had received a Silver-Gilt medal for ‘Garden Whispers’, a collaborative project with Korea’s Sungkyunkwan University. A Silver-Gilt is a prestigious award, positioned between the gold and silver awards.
Organized by the UK's Royal Horticultural Society, this year's Flower Show was hosted at Wentworth Woodhouse, a grand stately home in South Yorkshire, England. A total of 31 works were selected for the final exhibition across four categories. Among these, Garden Whispers’, a joint creation by Hyundai E&C Senior Manager Yeon gil Choi and Professor Hye young Choi of Sungkyunkwan University, was featured in the Show Garden category. Earning a Silver-Gilt medal on a debut entry is regarded as an exceptional achievement in the long history of the RHS Flower Shows.
The award-winning ‘Garden Whispers’ is a captivating installation that draws visitors into a poetic landscape through a series of white columns arranged at varying heights. The design is celebrated for its seamless harmony of natural elements, architecture, and art, featuring tranquil resting spaces and vibrant herbaceous flowers nestled within three-dimensional columns that ripple rhythmically with the breeze. Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, 3D printing technology using recycled plastic was applied to portions of the garden's paving and seating. The modern, refined harmony created by this contrasting combination also earned high praise from the British landscaping community, which traditionally favors the ‘cottage garden’ style.
Hyundai E&C Senior Manager Yeon gil Choi, who was directly involved in designing and creating the garden, shared his thoughts: “It is an honor to introduce Hyundai E&C's unique landscape design at the world-renowned RHS Flower Show and to have its artistic merit so highly recognized.” He added, “I am thrilled that our genuine commitment—to move beyond mere residential design and bring a sense of leisure and vitality to residents' lives through harmony with the natural world—seems to have resonated so deeply with European sensibilities.”
Hyundai E&C has consistently elevated the standard of its residential spaces through differentiated landscape architecture, collaborating with world-renowned artists like Karel Martens of the Netherlands and Anthony Browne of the UK, and applying innovative technologies for heat reduction and air purification. This latest achievement at the UK Flower Show adds to an already impressive collection of accolades, including eight awards in the landscape category from the world's three major design awards (Red Dot, IDEA, and iF), further cementing its status as a global leader in the field.
‘Garden Whispers’, unveiled at the ‘RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse 2025’, will be recreated at Hyundai E&C’s THE H BANGBAE residential site, which is scheduled for completion next year.
