Tadao Ando
Bonte Museum, Maiim Vision Village(Jeju)
Completed in 2012·2014
Tadao Ando has a special relationship with Hyundai E&C. The architect drew a sketch (design) of Bonte Museum in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju, and Maiim Vision Village in Neungseo-myeon, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do, whereas our company was in charge of constructing and completing the aesthetics of the architecture. Bonte Museum, which has two floors above ground and three buildings, draws water and light into exposed concrete to exhibit harmony. Maiim Vision Village, which consists of the Church of the Heart, gallery and library, also created another art based on the encounter of light and concrete. The two projects, which harmonize the beauty of Mother Nature and art, marked another milestone in the history of architecture.
Richard Meier
Seamarq Hotel (Gangneung)
Completed in 2015
Richard Meyer is called the “architect of white” for seeking simple and concise formative beauty. Together with the architect, our company created the Seamarq Hotel, where amazing Mother Nature and architecture of refined beauty create a perfect harmony. In order to minimize the damage to the original land, the hotel building and the convention center were separated into different masses, and the surrounding pine forests and trails leading to the beach were preserved intact. Its iconic designs, such as the transparent white panels, glass curtain walls, floating balconies protruding from the building exterior walls, and Infinity Pool, were attempts to invite the beautiful nature of the East Sea unfolding in front and Gyeongpo Lake at the back inside the hotel.
Norman Foster
South Beach (Singapore)
Completed in 2018
Singapore's South Beach, which embodies a huge wave, was designed by Foster & Partners, founded by Norman Foster. The overall concept is “Huge Wave,” and the canopy, which looks like a golden wave from a distance, is quite impressive. Our company constructed the building with eco-friendly elements. The 280-meter canopy serves as an “green filter” that not only blocks rainwater and direct sunlight, but also helps air circulate. Rainwater flowing along buildings and canopy are collected in underground tanks and recycled or can generate power through solar panels installed in some canopy.
Jean Nouvel
The National Museum of Qatar
Completed in 2019
The Qatar National Museum, called the “best masterpiece of the century,” was designed by star architect Jean Nouvel, inspired by “The Rose of the Desert,” in a geometric form with little straight and right angles. The first thing that catches your eye in this work is the curved exterior of the building. It is a unique form created by mixing and interlocking 316 circular disks. Our company built a desert rose-shaped structure with steel frames and fitted 76,000 fiber-reinforced concrete panels into circular plates. It also combined technology with art by applying 3D BIM to the entire construction process for the first time in the world for precision construction.
Rafael Moneo
Eterno Cheongdam
For Completion in 2023
Rafael Moneo, Spain's leading architect, was in charge of designing the exterior and public space of the residential environment built by Hyundai E&C. If the existing apartment is uniform with square-shaped windows, Etherno Cheongdam is characterized by its building elevation that is divided, invisible yet harmonious. It consists of 4 basement floors, 20 floors above ground, and 29 households, and the first floor is decorated as a hotel-style lobby, the 2nd to 18th floors include 22 single-story apartments and 6 double-story apartments, and the 19th to 20th floors are built as super penthouses. When Moneo visited Korea in February 2020, he talked about his design concept as following: "I want to project architectural meaning on houses," adding that, “I will design Etherno Cheongdam in consideration of all the roles it will play in the city of Seoul."
