Hyundai E&C is continuing to carry out post-war core infrastructure reconstruction project in Ukraine. On 14th-15th, Hyundai E&C participated in an international platform to rebuild the energy infrastructure in Ukraine that was held in Warsaw, Poland, for two days, ‘Rebuild Ukraine Powered by Energy’, to establish a global network and to carryout discussions on the plans to enter the project. 500 or so government institutions, private organizations and construction and manufacturing companies from approximately 30 countries, including UK, France, US and Germany and 26 local governments of Ukraine participated in this exhibition that was hosted by Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. Hyundai E&C was the only construction company from Korea that ran a promotion booth to inform the participants about the excellent construction capability and technological capability of K-construction, and Hyundai E&C carried out discussions about future plans for cooperation by participating in working level talks with the government institutions of Ukraine and the rebuild forum during the event period.

During the exhibition, Hyundai E&C signed an MoU on new construction and repair of transmission and transformation infrastructure with Ukrenergo. German Galushchenko, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, President of Ukrenergo, and Choi Young, SVP of the New Energy Business Unit at Hyundai E&C, participated in the signing ceremony that was carried out on the 14th, and a discussion was carried out on the plan to participate in the transmission and transformation project that amount to approximately KRW 1 trillion that Ukrenergo will be pursuing in the future. The transmission and transformation project, which is one of the core infrastructures of the Ukraine rebuilding project, is the infrastructure to supply power to the key industrial facilities in Ukraine, and it is evaluated as groundwork to enter into the energy market of East Europe and Ukraine, as it is highly relevant to the power generation project that will be pursued in the future.

Furthermore, prior to the exhibition, on the 12th, Hyundai E&C signed an MOU to execute the ‘Boryspil Airport Infrastructure Expansion Project’ together with Kyiv Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine and Korea Airports corporation in Warsaw, Poland. ‘Boryspil Airport Infrastructure Expansion Project’ is the project to rebuild and expand the terminals and the runways of the Kyiv International Airport, which is the largest gateway airport in the capital of Ukraine, and it is a part of the MOU that was entered into by Hyundai E&C and Boryspil International Airport under the leadership of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport in July. Korea Airports Corporation will participate as an additional partner in this new MOU and an advanced infrastructure facility is planning to be reborn as a facility that incorporates Korea’s knowhows to operate airports.

Relevant personnel of Hyundai E&C said, “Korea will contribute so that Ukrainian citizens can recover their everyday lives by exhibiting project execution and technological capabilities that were accumulated until now as the representative construction company that drove the economic development and post-war reconstruction in Korea,” and added, “We expect to achieve tangible outcomes in the participation of various rebuilding projects in the future as Hyundai E&C is continuously solidifying its position to enter the Ukrainian market through the signing of MOUs and participation in this exhibition”.
