Hyundai E&C makes charitable donations at home and abroad

Hyundai E&C set out to conduct a wide assortment of CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities at home and abroad to celebrate our 73rd anniversary this year.

Hyundai E&C hosted a CSR event with the Next Leader Board in an aim to provide coronavirus-related aids for welfare facilities and local residents in Iraq.

Between May 18 and 21, executives and staff members from the head office and the domestic project sites donated clothes, shoes and other items. The collected donations will be delivered to Hakim Foundation and underprivileged households near the IONE construction site. Hyundai E&C first entered the Iraqi market in 1978 by conducting the first phase construction of the Basra sewage system. Since that, we have performed 39 construction projects valued at a total of seven billion dollars. Hyundai E&C has built a close relationship with the kingdom, for example, by inviting Iraq’s children patients to Korea for the purpose of treatment in 2019.

Moreover, Hyundai E&C donated about 700 livelihood kits including daily necessities, foods and hand sanitizers to those living in the Daegu, Gyeongbuk and Busan provinces hit hard by coronavirus on May 13. The donated kits will be delivered by Plan International to the less supported areas.

The same day, 500 blood donor cards collected by our employees during 2019 were donated to Plan International.

The donated cards are expected to be sent to hospitals in need of support in a bid to help seek children receive blood transfusions.

Meanwhile, Hyundai E&C has so far conducted a wide range of CSR activities at home and abroad. In 2019, 3,580 executives and staff members of Hyundai E&C spent about 17,000 hours in participating in CSR activities.
