"We monitor the on-site process and establish a response plan by identifying process delay factors in advance."
by Manager Ha Jin-seong (Process Management Team)
Q Please tell us about your job.
The Procurement Division’s Process Management Team supports overseas plant orders and monitors the process of construction sites. We also prevent delays in the process through on-site monitoring systems, such as identifying the risk of construction projects subject to bidding based on construction data in the past and establishing response plans. In addition, we are in charge of the initial setup and operation of the on-site process management system.
Q When was the most rewarding moment during your work?
While it is rewarding when I feel that I have contributed even a little to the company’s development, but personally, I feel a lot of pride when my acquaintances praise or acknowledge our company. Recently, we received a lot of attention when we won the order for DH Hannam, the biggest redevelopment project site ever. I remember feeling immensely proud when my family and friends praised, “Indeed, that’s Hyundai E&C.” I also thought to myself that I should try harder for our company’s advancement, so that we can further increase our competitiveness in winning orders.
Q What kind of competencies do you think you need to do your job?
When performing process tasks, I feel that I am organically connected with departments such as purchasing, outsourcing, logistics, quality, and safety, as well as the process managers at the headquarters and site. Therefore, communication skills to correspond seamlessly with various people and building rapport within the organization are essential. Logical thinking is also required to analyze the process of various projects and draw conclusions based on valid evidence. It is a necessary skill to train.
Q Is there a corporate culture of Hyundai E&C that you are very proud of?
Compared to 2015, when I was a rookie, the corporate culture underwent significant changes. The biggest difference is when we are off work. When I first joined the company, there weren’t many employees going home even after 6:30 pm. However, with the “Work Smart Campaign” at the company level and the “Work Hour Management System,” it established a culture of concentrating on our job during the work hours and ending them promptly at 5:30 pm. The second change is the encouraged use of annual leaves. Once we are approved for the annual leave plan in advance, we can use them without feeling the pressure on the day. This helps employees to use leaves more freely. Our corporate culture makes sure that we take a full break when we rest and focus our best when we work.
Q Could you say a word to juniors who dream of working at Hyundai E&C?
Hyundai E&C, synonymous with the history of construction in Korea, has established itself as a global construction leader with years of accomplishment and know-how. Since we are a company that settles for the status quo, we will continue to take on various future challenges. I believe it will be a workplace where individuals can grow sustainably toward their desired direction. If you are starting a career in process management, I am sure you can experience more diverse sites here than any other company. I look forward to working with you. Go ahead and apply for your place at Hyundai E&C.
