Q1. Please tell us about your job

I am in charge of purchasing electrical materials for overseas sites in the equipment operation team of the Seoul office. I am responsible for checking and reviewing orders to ensure that the electrical equipment used at the sites meets the company's requirements. In addition, I am also involved in scheduling management to ensure that the materials arrive at the site on time, when needed.

Q2. What competencies do you need most in your job?

I think a “collaborative attitude” is a must. On large sites, it is crucial to coordinate interactions and opinions not only with your own teammates, but also with other types of construction operations. In the process of sharing opinions and making plans with various teams, an attitude of cooperation is the most necessary competency when performing field work. I also think that my experience in resolving conflicts through organizational activities such as student councils and clubs in college has been very helpful in my work. In particular, I was a member of the student council and had the experience of solving problems by consolidating the ideas of the members while preparing for school events. I was able to resolve conflicts by coordinating opinions with many people, and developed the ability to collaborate through active communication.

Q3. How did you prepare for joining the company?

My know-how for joining the company is “select and focus”, meaning that I chose one industry rather than applying for various industries and prepared for it step by step. I acquired relevant certifications such as electrician and electrical engineer, and I tried to improve my understanding of the plant industry through training at external organizations. I also met with people in the field and obtained information through various channels. The information I learned from current employees was very helpful in understanding the work and preparing for my interview.

Q4. Is there a corporate culture or system at HDEC that you would like to share?

Hyundai E&C is a “passionate and adventure-filled community”. This is because we collaborate with many people and work together toward the ultimate goal of completing a site. Along the way, there are definitely moments of struggle and frustration. But as a small team, or an entire site, you're working together toward a common goal, communicating and relying on each other to get better and better. Hyundai E&C is a company where you can grow and help each other in the process.

Q5. Do you have any advice for juniors who want to work at HDEC?

The job application process is a very short process to showcase your life, so it's important to demonstrate your genuine interest in joining Hyundai E&C. You should clearly demonstrate in the interview that you are a good match for Hyundai E&C's talent vision and that your experience will make you a good fit for the job. I believe that if you work with passion, the results will be commensurate. I encourage you to challenge yourself boldly.
